Atlanta was a special stop on this road trip, as I had the chance to spend quality time with a dear friend and colleague. We explored the office building featuring the world’s tallest freestanding spiral staircase, walked along the BeltLine, picked up some local goods at a market in Piedmont Park, and wandered through the beautiful botanical gardens. Altogether, we logged 25,000 steps—a perfect way for both me and Mochi to prepare for the next leg of our journey to Oklahoma City.

We hit the road the next morning at 8:30 a.m., with an estimated arrival time of 11:45 p.m. Each stop along the way was mapped out by the car’s GPS and turned out to be both available and convenient—for me and for Mochi. Thanks to a gifted audiobook and some calls with family, the hours and miles passed quickly, and I actually arrived in Oklahoma City just before 11 p.m.
What surprised me most was the amount of forest throughout the drive—I had expected more farmland or even barren stretches. It turns out this region is experiencing a particularly wet season, with rain and thunderstorms (and even tornado warnings while writing this post) forecasted over the next few days.

This week is focused on making solid progress at work before heading off to explore the national parks next week.
