First of all, I have to admit, this picture is obviously manipulated. I want to enforce the cozy and comfortable atmosphere of christmas by increasing the warm colors.
Christmas is the most important festival in most of the German households. Especially the kids and grown-up kids are looking forward to receive presents and candy from Santa Claus at Christmas Eve. It is a tradition to decorate a Christmas tree. The gifts will be placed below it.
When growing older not the presents but rather the "being-together" and time to relax is what gets valued. Everyday-life is being forgotten about for some days and the focus is just directed on the family and friends by eating, singing and visiting events together.
